Shivaji, the real Maratha ruler
Shivaji, the legendary Maratha ruler was born on February 19, 1627. He was the founder of the Maratha Empire, an empire that spread its wings across the breadth of what is now called India. Shivaji was the main driving force behind uniting the Marathas against theMuslim rulers in India. The Maratha Empire stretched from the west coast, from the north of Goa to as far as the Punjab in the north.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a OBC from the Bhosale dynasty who founded the Maratha empire. Shivaji led a resistance to free the Marathas from Sultanate of Bijapur, and establish the rule of the OBC’s. He created an independent Maratha kingdom with Raigad as its capital, and fought against the Mughals to defend his kingdom successfully. He was crowned as Chhatrapati of the Maratha Kingdom in 1674.
He achieved the re-establishment of OBC rule on their homeland after being ruled and dominated by various Muslim dynasties for few hundred years. He established a competent and progressive civil rule with the help of well regulated and disciplined military and well structured administrative organizations. The prevalent practices of treating women as spoils of war, destruction of religious monuments, slavery and forceful religious conversions were firmly opposed under his administration. He pioneered “Ganimi Kava” (guerrilla tactics), which leveraged strategic factors like demographics, speed, surprise and focused attack to defeat his bigger and more powerful enemies. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born in the hill-fort of Shivneri near the city of Junnar. In 1645, at the age of 16, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj carried out his first military action by attacking and capturing Torna Fort of the Bijapur kingdom. By 1647 he had capturedKondana and Rajgad forts and had control of much of the southern Pune region. By 1654 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had captured forts in the Western Ghats and along the Konkan coast.
It is always propogated by Brahmin writers that Dadaji Kondev and Samarth Ramdas (Both Brahmins) were the Guru’s of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. But its not true. Bahujan Ptratipalak Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was having his Three Gurus as Jijau Mata, Shahaji (Father) and Saint Tukaram Maharaj. Jijau Mata and Shahaji stood with Shivaji at every crucial moment. It was due to Jijau Mata, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj could get the courage of organising Coronation ceremony besides every effort of Brahmins not to allow him to carry out the same. Shivaji Maharaj used to attend the Kirtan’s of Saint Tukaram Maharaj and was very much influenced by his Dohas and Kirtans and tried to implement all the ideal ideology within his Rayat Rajya. His rule was totally dependent on the principle of Justice, Peace, Independancy, Faternity. The slogan given by Ramdass swami is Jai Jai Raghuweer Samarth, whereas the slogan given by Shivaji Maharaj is “Har Har Mahadev”. If Ramdass is real Guru of Shivaji then how come a slogan of Shivaji and his guru is different. He was knowing the fact that Brahmins had put all the women into fourth varna and deprived them from every right. So he took special precautions for Ladies. He was the person who stopped Sati Pratha in his Rayat Rajya. He was the person who opposed all the Vedas and Shastras. This was the reason why none of the brahmin was ready to do the Raj Tilak (coronation) of Shivaji Maharaj. His Coronation ceremony was also a historical develpement. As Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj conquered most of the forts. He declared to do his Raj Tilak (Coronation ceremony). He invited most of the brahmins. But the brahmins who are propagating Shivaji Maharaj as Go-Brahman Pratipalak today, refused to do Raj Tilak of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. None of the brahmin came forward. At last with assurance of huge amount of money, Brahmin Gagabhat from Varanasi agreed to do the Raj Tilak of Shivaji Maharaj. Almost 4 lacs rupees were spent on the coronation ceremony, with equal amount of Gold and ornaments. Also as he was brahmin he had not done the raj tilak of Shivaji with his thumb of right hand but with thumb of left leg. Today the question arises, if all the OBC’s are hindu and brahmins are also hindu, then why a brahmin oppossed to do Raj Tilak of another brahmin. So if the brahmins had oppossoed the Raj Tilak of Shivaji Maharaj, it gives clear message that he was a Shudra and as per the Shastras and Manusmruti, no Shudra is allowed to be at highest position above brahmin. Only Brahmins are allowed to occupy the top most positions.
It was Rashtrapita Jotiba Phuley who went to Raigad and found out Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Samadhi in 1869. Jotiba Phuley was the first person to start “Shiv Jayanti”(Birth day of Chhtrapati Shivaji maharaj) first time in India. He also discovered the grave of Shivaji maharaj on Raigad Fort which was disappeared in creepers and climbers. He also wrote “Shivajicha powada” an epic poem.
From 1870 Jotiba Phuley started celebrating Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on large extent. At that time Bal Ganghadhar Tilak (Brahmin) was just 12 year old. Most of the OBC’s followed Jotiba Phuley and started celebrating Shivaji Maharaj jayanti. But it was eye opening for Brahmins. They were getting feared. At last Tilak came forward and started celebrating Ganesh Utsov. He diverted most of OBC’s who were celebrating Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti to Ganesh Utsov. It ultimately shifted most of the OBC’s from real Shivaji Maharaj to artificial created Ganesh.
The meet of Afzal khan with Shivaji in 1659 is also a historical one. As it was declared to bring Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj either dead or alive. Afzal khan accepted the challenge. Afzal khan before meeting Shivaji, went to Waai, place near Satara District of Maharashtra. He there meet brahmins and all together finalised the plan to kill Shivaji Maharaj. Even 400 Brahmins put Koti Chandi Yagna for the victory of Afzal khan. Shivaji Maharaj called Afzal Khan at Pratap garh with one Body guard and one Advocate from each side. Mr.Kazi Hyder was accompanied as advocate of Shivaji Maharaj with Jiwaji Mahale as Body Guard. On other side Mr.Saiyyd Band was Body Guard of Afzal Khan and who was the advocate…??It was none other than Krushnaji Bhasker Kulkarni…A Brahmin…Afzal Khan while greeting Shivaji tried to kill him in his stomach, but shivaji maharaj was wearing Chilkhat, which saved him from the attack. Immidiately Saiyyad Band came forward with another attack but Jiwaji Mahale saved Shivaji Maharaj. Hence it is always said that ‘There was Jivaji, hence was saved Shivaji”(In Marathi–Hota Jivaji Manun Vachala Shivaji). But later Krushna Bhaskar Kulkarni attacked Shivaji on his forehead as he was aware that it was no use in attacking Shivaji’s stomach. It was the only wound which Shivaji got from anybody in his entire life span of 50 years. Yes it was only brahmin attack on Shivaji’s Life. Krushna Kulkarni was knowing the fact written in Manusmruti that a shudra OBC can not kill a brahmin. His duty is to serve and Obey Brahmin. But Shivaji Maharaj didn’t respect Manusmruti and counter attacked Krushnaji Kulkarni.
Like these there are so many incidents on how Brahmins behaved with Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Even it is true with today’s contest. There are so many examples in todays life how Brahmins are behaving with OBC’s. Hence its need of time to read the real history of our fore fathers.
